The US has had three National Gravity Calendar races so far this year, of a total of eight for the season. This weekend’s ‘Massanutten Yee-Ha!’ in Virginia had just 18 female entrants in total, with the 6-women pro field being won by Allie Burch (co-founder of the Freeride Foundation)
Katie Holden is currently leading the series overall after entering and winning just the Fluidride Port Angeles - Pro GRT USAC-MTB, a round which had higher points than the others so far. Second on points at present is Kathy Pruitt who came second in that round, and third is Canadian Katrina Strand. Winning the other two rounds didn’t count for much, and Allie Burch and first round winner Jacqueline Harmoney are way back in sixth and seventh. The next Pro GRT round is the Chile Challenge in Angel Fire, New Mexico on the 23-25 May, and should give the points a shake up when some people start clocking up more than one race each!
The overall standings are here.
Here’s second place overall Kathy Pruitt talking about the FluidRide Pro GRT on ChannelMTB.com, and some good footage of the women riders too:
