Anneke Beerten celebrating in the live Freecaster.tv feed

Anneke Beerten took the win in an exciting evening of 4x racing in Mt Ste Anne, Canada, for the sixth round of the 2009 UCI World Cup. Anneke and Jill Kintner have been battling it out for the series title, but Anneke took this round convincingly to reclaim the World Cup lead.

The final came down to Anneke, Jill, Joanna Petterson, and Fionn Griffiths who was the only one hitting the big set of doubles. Anneke got out in front early and Jill was chasing her hard until she went down in a berm near the end, putting herself out of contention.

Jill Kintner on the dirt after crashing, watch it on Freecaster.tv to make your own mind up about what she's trying to acheive right after this! It was one of those 'wtf?' moments that make 4x very interesting.

There are a far higher percentage of women who race both 4x and DH than the guys, and today’s double race day was hard for Fionn Griffiths, Mio Suemasa, Anita Molcik and Melissa Buhl who all raced two world cup finals in just a few hours. And there were some other impressive crashes besides Jill’s: Neven Steinmetz went down hard in the quarters but got back on and finished, while 2008 4x World Champ Melissa Buhl crashed hard in the rock garden in her semi, but carried on to win the small final.

Final:
1. Anneke Beerten
2. Fionn Griffiths
3. Joanna Petterson
4. Jill Kintner

Small Final:
5. Melissa Buhl
6. Anita Molcik
7. Sasha Huntington
8. Mio Suemasa

Full official results will be on the UCI website soon.
