Konakee Crankworx is on right now and runs until the 16th, and thanks to photographer Justa Jeskova, we’ve got some amazing shots of the women riders in action in the first two events. The image above is Canadian rider Micayla Gatto focusing on going fast in the Dual Slalom.
Lisa Myklak racing Fionn Griffiths in the first round of the DS. Due to a small pro field, there were only four heats, two semis and a big and small final to sort out the final four. Fee won this round.
Micayla Gatto again, digging it in on the corner. Micayla finished third, although that’s not what the Crankworx website says here! Confused?
Well, the camera never lies – Jill Kintner won the DS and takes the top spot on the podium, Fee Griffiths in second (on left) and Micayla Gatto in third. Official results are here for pro women and here for open women.
Melissa Buhl was fourth in the DS, but didn’t go so well in the Garbonzo DH. She’s looking fast here though, riding one of many gnarly rock features.
The Garbonzo DH course is a whopping 15+ minutes of downhill – 3-5 times the length of a typical World Cup DH course. US rider Kathy Pruitt proved she’s got the fitness by laying down the third fastest time of the day.
Fionn Griffiths came fourth, and after second place in DS she did the best overall. Nice.
And the 2009 Garbonzo DH Pro Women winner is Canadian rider Miranda Miller. Check out the style – this nineteen-year-old is going damn quick to beat second placed rider and world number 2 Emmeline Ragot.
Emmeline Ragot, Miranda Miller and Kathy Pruitt on the podium. Full results are here for pro women, senior women here and junior women here.
Next up is Womenzworx and the Gala women’s slopestyle, keep an eye out for more great photos from Justa Jeskova when we put them up. Thanks Justa!
