Floriane Pugin and Jill Kintner fastest in Schladming qualifying

It’s the Schladming World Cup DH and 4x 2009 this weekend, the last world cup race for '09, and along with the intense weekend that was World Champs a fortnight ago, this has to be one of the biggest events of the year. The fact that Sabrina Jonnier has already won on points takes a wee bit of the excitement out of it, but it could mean a bit of a shuffle in the results if attitudes to the race change.

In the DH, French rider Floriane Pugin was the quickest on the steep, rooty track. She was over three seconds ahead of the usual suspects – Sabrina was second fastest, and new World DH Champ Emmeline Ragot third. Mio Suemasa split up the Frenchies by being fourth fastest ahead of Celine Gros. Tracy Moseley will be trying to catch Emmeline on points to tussle for second place, but only qualified in seventh.

4x is coming down to the wire this season, with Jill Kintner, Anneke Beerten and Fionn Griffiths having a really tight fight for the top spot. Anneke is currently leading and would have to come fifth or below to concede the series win to either of the others. Unfortunately, Fionn crashed in qulaifying, so she’s out. But Jill was quickest, so tomorrow should see some interesting racing… and it’s 4x. ANYTHING can happen….

We don’t have any photos for you yet, but Jill Kintner is the quickest at blogging as well as on her bike, and she has a couple here as well as a good write up of how it went down.
