Tracy Moseley is changing things up for the ‘09 season, and while she’s yet to announce who she’s riding for, she’s confirmed its not Kona.
Tracy’s had their name on her top (and her shorts, gloves, bikes, hats, and probably sports bras) since her first year of racing full time for Team Kona Ford Focus in 2001, and they’ve helped her to amazing professional success since then.
In their press release, Kona wrote:
“Always smiling and always the consummate professional, Tracy will be sadly missed by the Kona crew,” says Kona co-founder Jake Heilbron. “We wish her the best of luck in her future with a new team and a new ride. And we look forward to seeing her at the races and on top of podiums all over the world.”
Moseley, who in her nine years with Kona had reached the podium at more than 112 races, admits that leaving Kona isn’t easy.
“Kona is one big family and wherever I have been in the world I have always had an amazing welcome from the Kona distributors everywhere,” says Moseley. “I am very grateful for the commitment, support and opportunities Kona has given me over the last nine years.”

So who will she be riding for? There’s been a few high-profile teams already announced, like every grom-boy’s hero Sam Hill switching to Specialized. Martha Hucker’s pick: Could Tracy be Trek’s ‘top level woman rider’ on their new DH team? We’ll have to wait till 1 December to find out…
In the meantime, check out Tracy’s timeline with great pictures of her riding over the years since getting her first mountain bike in 1992. That’s like, AGES ago! That bike’s nearly old enough to vote now. And Tracy’s been racing DH since 1994, nearly 15 years now – something to think about if you’re a newbie getting frustrated that you can’t ride like her…. yet!
