Tracy Moseley signs with Trek - Martha knows best!

Last week we told you how Tracy Moseley said kthnxbye to longtime Kona, and predicted she would be the latest addition to the Trek DH team. We were right!

In a press release, Tracy says:

“I am really excited to have this great opportunity to ride on a new exciting bike from 2009, and with a great team around me to give me all the support I’ll need to further improve. I’m also really happy to have 2 great guys to ride with as I believe that is really important for my ongoing development as a racer. These three things combined, the new bike, the team support and my team mates, will make a big difference to me.”

Tracy and her team mates (including Kiwi rider Justin Leov) will be on the new Session 88, Trek’s latest and hopefully greatest DH bike. The American company have not exactly been market leaders in DH/Freeride, and clearly they’re looking to changes this for ‘09.

Based on the same ABD ‘full floater’ suspension platform used on the Fuel and Remedy trail bikes, the Session 88 is rumoured to be a mere 38 pounds out of the box. The effective top top length is over 57cms in the small, making it perhaps not the most women-friendly design, as it’s slightly longer than the ’small’ in a lot of DH bikes including Tracy’s old Kona Stab.

Tricked out in full Sram x0 it’s not surprising that they kept the weight down, and he price will be about $6,700 Canadian. Somehow… it still looks like a trail bike though. Will that help or hinder it? I guess we’ll see how Tracy goes this season, not that she’d blame it on the bike anyway!

Here’s the Session 88 in action on youtube.
