Here’s some snaps from practice day at 2009’s Bromont DH and 4x World Cup round. The track was looking dry and fast on course walk day yesterday, and then it rained. But that’s to be expected in Bromont. Once again, you have Canadian rider Danice Uyesugi to thank for this rider’s eye view of exactly what’s going down at the World Cup.
Mio Suemasa trying to get some of the Bromont mud off. Mio went fastest in timed practice and qualified second in Mt Ste Anne, maybe this weekend she’ll be up on the podium again in the final to break up the French domination.
Current World Cup leader Sabrina Jonnier checks out some lines with Kiwi rider Amy Laird. It’s Amy’s first WC of the year after she missed Mt Ste Anne due to injury, and she really couldn’t have a better mate to help her out.
US rider Katie Holden looking fast in one of the many steep, technical sections that Bromont is famous for. Katie will be aiming to make it through to race runs this time after missing out at Mt Ste Anne with a 25th spot in qualifying. The Canadian rounds of the World Cup attract larger numbers of women riders than the Euro rounds, so it can be a battle to get through to the DH finals.
Canadian rider Rebecca McQueen made an awesome World Cup debut last week, but won’t be repeating it this week. Unfortunately she broke her collarbone in practice. Remember, riders: friends don’t let friends go to the hospital alone, but friends DO take photos and put them on the internet, when you’re looking your best in hospital gowns. Thanks again to Danice for the shots!
